House of Saint Thomas Aquinas
Since January 2019, the Divine Providence has entrusted us with a House in the city of Naples, in the district of Barra. We have moved in, having been well received by theecclesiastical authorities. In spite of some material difficulties (lack of heating, dilapidated premises, etc.), community life has now resumed in this large convent, which we have placed under the protection of Saint Thomas Aquinas.
In the shade of the bell tower, surrounding the ancient central cloister with its orange trees and traditional well, rise up the main buildings: kitchen and refectory on the ground floor, many bedrooms on the upper floors... There is even a garden, planted with lemon trees that we immediately started to care for, and which give forth an abundance of fruit! There is no shortage of manual activities at the House of St. Thomas Aquinas: small restoration work, the installation of rooms, gardening...
Every morning at 6 am, the bell resonates in the corridors of the convent: the day begins, and soon the sisters come together for the office of Lauds in the magnificent monastery church. There, before Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament, the Sisters Adorers find the source of their life of prayer. The Holy Mass follows. The singing of the Office, prayer and adoration, alternate with study and daily duties, such as cleaning, cooking, or taking care of the sacristy.
The novices will now have the grace of continuing their formation in the religious life in the House of Saint Thomas Aquinas. In an ideal setting of a traditional convent building, they will combine study, prayer and manual activities.
We thank you wholeheartedly for your prayers and support—because all of this comes at a cost. Do not hesitate to come and visit our apostolate in Naples, which now includes our convent, and count on our prayers for you and your families.
