Settling in at Preston

Maison Saint-AugustinOn November 11, 2018, three of our sisters landed in Manchester, to come to the House of St. Augustine in Preston. Most Reverend Michael Campbell, Bishop of the Diocese of Lancaster, has indeed decided to erect this former presbytery as a new House for your sisters Adorers..

The residents of Preston were beginning to get used to seeing the cassocks of
our canons who had been installed since 2015 in the church of Saint Walburge, and since last September in the church of Saint Thomas of Canterbury and of the English Martyrs. The Institute and its female branch are thus well represented now in this city of 130,000 inhabitants in Lancashire County.

To celebrate this installation, His Excellency did us the honor of presiding over Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament, and he came personally to bless our new House, our fourth house at the time, and which was quite naturally placed under the patronage of Saint Augustine of Canterbury.

The new community is not short of work, but the precious help of a few of the faithful allowed us to move in quickly. In accordance with our vocation, we are very happy to be able to support our canons in their priestly ministry, through our prayers and our work, and above all, to be able to pay homage through our adoration to the Royal Heart of Our Lord in this splendid sanctuary dedicated to the English martyrs, which here in Preston is the setting for our liturgical life.
