The laundry room in Naples

Dear friends and benefactors,

At a time when more and more young women from all walks of life are knocking at the door of our convent to offer their lives to Our Lord, we find ourselves confronted with a situation that we unfortunately know all too well: lack of rooms to receive these vocations.

At present, two of the convent's bedrooms and a shower room are unavailable, since we have had to install our laundry room there for lack of a suitable room. We therefore have the project of renovating a large room for the laundry and linens. The room’s more spacious dimensions will favor the work of the sisters and will allow us to install more suitable appliances for a community of about thirty people. Unfortunately, the larger room is in bad condition because it had suffered a fire before our arrival. In order to renovate this room, we need to raise the sum of 10,000€, including masonry work, painting and floor repairs, as well as plumbing and electricity.

Moreover, the laundry machines we have at the moment are domestic appliances, adapted perhaps to the use of a large family, but not to a community of 30 people (without counting the guestrooms, laundry from the sacristy, and all household linen: tablecloths, towels, etc....).

Therefore, in order to meet our needs in a sustainable way, we need to invest in high quality, robust, and very high capacity equipment, i.e. professional grade. To acquire 1 washing machine, 1 15kg tumble dryer and a Karcher iron of this sort, 6000€ are necessary.
